Jackie Silvester

Jackie is the lead specialist orthodontist at Petts Wood Orthodontics. She has worked as a specialist orthodontist in central London and Kent for almost 20 years.

Jackie completed her undergraduate dental degree at King’s College School of Medicine and Dentistry in 1992. During this time, she won numerous awards, including prizes for excellence in orthodontics, oral surgery and restorative dentistry.

Following a variety of hospital posts in children’s dentistry and maxillofacial surgery at several London teaching hospitals, Jackie gained her Fellowship in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

After two years of general dental practice in Devon, Jackie started specialist training in orthodontics at King’s College London Dental Institute and Orpington Hospital. She was awarded an MSc in Orthodontics from the University of London in 1999 and Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2000.

She is listed as a Specialist in Orthodontics by the General Dental Council and is an active member of the British Orthodontic Society.

Martyn Cobourne

Martyn Cobourne is a part-time specialist orthodontist at Petts Wood Orthodontics, offering evening and weekend clinics. He is currently Professor of Orthodontics in the Faculty of Dentistry, Oral and Craniofacial Sciences at King’s College London and Honorary Consultant in Orthodontics at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. He is an elected member of the Board of Faculty of Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

Martyn runs the postgraduate orthodontic training programme at King’s and is co-author of the successful Handbook of Orthodontics. He has published over 130 articles on orthodontics and craniofacial development.

Martyn was awarded the Charles Tomes Medal by the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2015 and his research has won the Chapman Prize of the British Orthodontic Society in 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2019. Since 2012, he has been Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Orthodontics. He presented the prestigious Northcroft Memorial Lecture at the British Orthodontic Conference in 2018 and was recently awarded the 2019 B.F and Helen E. Dewel Award by the American Association of Orthodontists for the most outstanding clinical research article published in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.
